How to set up your online media room

How to get ink even in an election year

Bulldog Reporter has an excellent newsletter called Journalists Speak Out on PR

This item in today's issue clearly makes the case for  having a good media room on your website. And take note of their dislike of PDF files.

Make your source easier to find. “Reporters go online when news breaks and search for [relevant sources],” McCafferty continues. “My advice is to put your expert’s information, bio and whatever else you have in your company newsroom. Also, include a list of past clips — it really works. I admit it — these things catch our eye because we don’t always look for fresh sources. If your guy has been covered on more than a local Dallas TV show, it’s a draw because he’s been [vetted]. It shows his credentials and media savvy.” He offers one caveat, however: “Don’t use PDF files for things like your expert’s bio. PDFs can’t be copied and pasted — and they freeze our computers or log us off.”
