Blogs more popular

By the end of 2004 blogs had established themselves as a key part of online culture.

The Pew Internet & American Life Project showed that blogs are becoming a mainstream source of information and discussion. Fully 27 percent of those surveyed said they read blogs, up from 17 percent last February.

The report established new contours for the blogosphere: 8 million American adults say they have created blogs; blog readership jumped 58% in 2004

12% of internet users have posted comments or other material on blogs.

Still, 62% of internet users do not know what a blog is. RSS also broke into the stats finally, with about one in 20 web users saying they read at least one syndicated feed. Still, almost two thirds of those polled said they didn't know what the word "blog" meant. To most, they're just more sites.

Good news for those business owners and execs who have been thinking about doing a corporate blog.
