Blogging and PR

Are corporate blogs a PR nightmare or an opportunity

PR firm Dellayae is offering a webinar that promises to show PR Professionals how to 'survive' the blogospshere.

Steve Rubel took them to task for this attitude, and many other PR bloggers weighed in on the subject.

According the the Pew Internet project while blogs are growing exponentially and bloggers are very influential, 62%  of those surveyed still don't know what a blog is.

In the PR world I am sure that stats holds true. As a group, they are not tech savvy people.

But communication is the heart of what they do.  If there is a new communication vehicle that may help or harm their clients, they need to know about it.

Yes, they should embrace it and not fear it.  But pretending it has no potential for harm is putting your head in the sand.

Ask Dan Rather.

I agree that presenting blogging only as a threat is really missing the point. But if Dellahaye is a monitoring  firm - then that's what they will present.  It's what they do.

Don't kick the dog because he barks.
