Corporate blogs in the Long Tail

Some excellent stats on blogs and blog postings

David Sifry has a great series of posts on the State  of the blogosphere and the long tail.

Over the past few days he has posted and analyzed stats from Technorati on how many blogs are being tracked, how often posts are made and the influence of blogs.

The data on blogs in the long tail is particularly relevant for corporate blogs.

"There is power in the conversations going on around you, and not necessarily from the places that you'd ordinarily expect. Companies that work in conjunction with the trends going on in the long tail: e.g. fostering peoples voices, listening to and incorporating their comments and feedback, and fostering a community have a tremendous opportunity awaiting them," says Sifry.
