While other blogging events may be losing steam, yesterday's PR University's audio conference on the New PR Technologies proved to be a hit. For two hours 175 companies listened to the basics of corporate blogging, how to use RSS feeds as a PR and media relations tool and how podcasting will fit into this new PR environnent. To give the audience some reality on blogging - and to have a place to give them our references - I suggested we set up a blog for the event. Bill and Andy at Myst Technology jumped right in and built a beautful blogsite for the PR University event. It was quite a challenge to keep one's attention on the thread of the discussion between presenters, blog your own thoughts and references and then still be able to answer intelligently when asked a question! Toby Bloomberg of Diva Marketing and I had a good laugh about getting tongue- tied and finger- tied at the same time. But it was a truly innovative action and worked very well for the audience. Usually listeners have no way of getting the references in real time. The blog will remain up as a record of this event. There are some excellent references and links - you should go check it out. And watch the blog for the results of next week's advanced class in using the new technology to improve media relations. |
