Why you should email your blog posts to subscribers

<p>Rok Hrastnik got a flurry of comments to his post about the need to <a href="http://www.marketingstudies.net/blogs/diary/archive/000298.html">send out your top posts via e-mail.</a></p><p>I think he is&nbsp;right on the money.&nbsp; Look at the figures from the <a title="blog readership" href="http://www.emarketer.com/Article.aspx?1003318">latest blog readership poll</a>.</p><p>Just 33% of those age 65 and over use the Net, but of that online population only&nbsp;28% read blogs. </p><p>The younger your target audience is, the more they read blogs.&nbsp; 91% of&nbsp;18 to 29 years-old use the Net, and of those 44% read blogs.</p><p>So even if you have a very young audience, less than half of them are reading blogs.</p><p>What about the other half? Wouldn't you want to encourage them to read your blog?</p><p>One of the commenters asked, &nbsp;Why bother to blog if you have to send out the posts by email?</p><p>Because it is the way to get new content out, express your opinion, be a thought leader, build a profile, start a conversation with your audience, reach the early adopters who do read blogs and may not know about you and increase your online visibility. </p><p>Why go backward and send your top posts out via e-mail? </p><p>Because if you have been building your e-mail list over the years, you have a great audience right there already. And they're NOT all early adopters.
